        • Description
        • The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, New Jersey is announcing a juried competition "Art in Architecture" to celebrate its inauguration as the new art center in New Jersey, replacing the 40 year old Somerset Art Association in the fall 2010. "Art in Architecture" intends to generate ideas about the relationship and interaction between the two. The thematic goal is to seek images about architecture as a repository for art, revealing how art is expressed in architecture, and how art and architecture affect and are affected by each other. In focusing on the capacity of art and architecture to be transcendent, this exhibition will add special voice to the current debate between the 'container' and the 'contents' that has been taking place across the globe.

Complete prospectus available on-line as of January 15, 2010.

01.06.10 WTF???? can you clazrify the site link please / dannygriff
01.15.10 I find the description for this competition to be vague. It says the goal is to "generate ideas about the interaction of art and architecture". Is the competition to create a piece of art or to design a building for art? / Confused
01.19.10 Are we moving beyond museums as "spectacle", things in themselves that work for significance yet often crowd out the work that is to be contained w/in? / ChristopherDiehl/Cleveland
03.04.10 Questions and answers relating to the competition are posted at www.somersetart.org. Exhibit Opportunities. I found these to be very helpful. / linsbren
