The first stage of the competition (popular vote) starts August 1 and continues through November 7. Entries are open to review and voting by the entire public and design community. During this stage, entries can be assigned social badges by voters (each badge worth one point) based on the energy efficiency, sustainability and design-vision of the entry. Entries also receive feedback through commenting by voters. The winning popular voted entry will be that entry which accrues the most badges (points).
The second stage of the competition (juried vote) starts Oct 31 (submission deadline) and the winner is decided by the panel of expert judges.
The winning designs of the two stages will face-off at the 2012 Greenbuild International Expo in San Francisco, Nov 14-16, 2012 to compete for the title of the overall grand prize winner.
