Designers are invited to create a concept for a bicycle shelter for bike storage in Cincinnati. Each entry must meet the minimum requirements listed below. The designer shall choose the location and other details of the project. The intent is to demonstrate that bike shelters can be beautiful, thoughtfully designed, affordable to build, and part of a community. 

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Entrants must meet the following design requirements as a minimum. Designers are encouraged to expand this program how best they see fit. - must provide secure and protected storage for 8 bicycles minimum - must be accessible to public - may be considered as part of a bike sharing program.

AWARDS

The winning submission will receive a Saris Cycle Glide – an innovative residential bike storage system generously donated by Saris. Details online at saris.com Awards will be announced at a presentation by Saris on August 6, 2012. Details to be announced.

No entry fee. Digital images no larger than 11x17 at 150 dpi (1650x2550 pixels), JPEG or PDF format in either landscape or portrait orientation. Submissions will be randomly sorted to ensure fairness. 

JUDGING CRITERIA

Winning submissions will display exemplary creativity and excellent design. Entries will be judged by a small jury of architects, cyclists, and design professionals. All entries will be displayed on the competition website and may be displayed at future AIA Cincinnati events.
